Mama Said There'd Be Days Like This

Ever feel like throwing your pics in here...

...and then tossing your camera in here?

Totally understand. Sometimes the mojo just isn't working. You're clicking pics, but the pics aren't clicking. There's a disturbance in the Force, Jupiter isn't aligned with Mars, and you're having one of those Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad pic days. (sigh) It's okay. We've all been there.

Now, you'd think that any time spent Blitzing is going to be a good time. And usually it is a crazy good time, rivalled only by happy hour at an all-you-can-eat ice cream bar. BUT, there are rare occasions when it isn't. There are times it is only crazy good when compared to undergoing a root canal or stepping in the doggy doo of a St. Bernard. Not really bueno. So, when this malaise (French for "blahs") messes with your Blitzosity, what do you do? What do you do?

Hey! Let's ask Tina Turner. Tina?

“Sometimes you've got to let everything go - purge yourself. If you are unhappy with anything . . . whatever is bringing you down, get rid of it. Because you'll find that when you're free, your true creativity, your true self comes out.”

Thanks, Tina! Blitzers, there you have it. Get rid of anything that's bringing you down. Maybe go through those print and digital files and lose those pics that you never really liked. Just toss 'em. Now take a look at all those awesome pics you've got left, the ones that make you go, "Man, I'm good!" Then get your camera and...Wait! No, no, don't toss it in the lake! (That was close.) I was going to say, get your cleaning kit and make it shine. Bright lens for a clearer vision. Nice. Feeling better now, aren't ya? Oh, yeah. Now take that restored PhotoBlitz confidence and that sparkling camera back out there and go get 'em, tigers! Win one for the home team and Follow Your Blitz!

Hasta later.

Say "Hello" to Oly!

Oly's a compact zoom and a birthday gift from my sis & bro-in-law. Though the b-day isn't until next week, sis made me open it tonight. What could I do? I valiantly resisted, determined to wait until Tuesday, but was ultimately rendered defenseless. My arm was mercilessly twisted and I was compelled to open the mysterious -- yet quite festive -- package. Oh, the tragedy having to open such a completely awesome gift days in advance, the sheer misery of having this new toy just in time for the big Joshua Tree Blitz, the...okay, okay, I'm laying it on a little thick aren't I? Not kidding anybody, 'cause we all know this is NEATO SPLENDIDO, BABY! I'm rocking a new digi-cam, a nice little upgrade from the Canon PowerShot I've been using. Cool-cool, or as Tim says, "Lisa, that is sooo sweet!" You know it!

This weekend, we'll see what Oly's made of. Next week, there will be pics. Watch for it, Blitzers. In the meantime, keep Following Your Blitz!

May is ...

Hello, Blitzers! Though we strive to bring you tons of awesomeness and news you can use, we've dropped the ball. Ya, it's true. Apparently May is National Photo Month and has been since the 80's. Why we didn't get the memo, who knows? I mean, if anyone should get this super-urgent info, it's us, right? I blame sabotage. That, or, you know, we're just not that observant. Either way, it's okay, because now we know. So let's get this party started!

How do Blitzers celebrate this amazing month? Click pics, what else? Only you have to kick it up a notch. Don't just click pics; do stuff with them! Get camera crazy! Have fun! Still stumped? Well, let's give you a few ideas, shall we?

Back up those digital files. Organize old prints, or put them in photo albums or scrapbooks. Share pics on Facebook or Flickr. Use them for crafts. (Check out Photojojo for some great ideas.) Clean your camera lenses. Buy a new camera. Gather your friends and go on a photo safari. Join a local camera club. Join an online photography group. Take a class. Buy that photography book you've been wanting. Learn about at least one major photographer. Go see a photo exhibit at a museum. Do one Standard Blitz each week.

Get the idea?

Blitzers, it's a month dedicated to what we love. Make the most of it. Then go to our Facebook page and share your pics. 'Cause you make the party, people! Wooo-hooo!
