What Is This PhotoBlitz Of Which You Speak?

We knew you'd ask this eventually. Everyone does. In fact, we're still asking ourselves. Here's what we've come up with so far. Are you ready? This is big:

It involves...

...TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS.

That's all we got. Sounds fun, though, yeah?

Okay, okay, okay, we've got a few other ideas. Nothing's set in stone, but it kinda goes like this: We get our cameras and pic-taking equipment together. We get in Maestro Tim's Pathfinder. He forgets something, then dashes back in the house to get it. He returns. We select a CD appropriate for the PhotoBlitzing mindset and get the tunes pumping. Then we drive off toward adventure, possibly stopping for pastries on the way. Like that? Oh, there's more.

Dressed for the elements, we arrive at our predetermined, scenic location. Ah, so charming, so lovely, so serene...

...then POW! We spring upon it, before it can realize what we're doing. We survey the scene, then CLICK! SNAP! DODGE! WEAVE! Do the Hokey-Pokey and turn ourselves around. Whatever it takes. It's crazy. A total photo-frenzy that would stun even the paparazzi. Before you know it, the time has flown by and BAM! We've taken a bazillion shots. Each.

Oh, yeah. Just like that.

Absolutely nothing gets in our way.

Except for little orange cones and warning signs. We're adventurous, not nuts. (Not totally, anyway.)

And there you have it. The basic elements of a Photoblitz: get your camera, go somewhere cool, spend time checking it out and take tons of pics. Out of the house and into the fresh air, having fun, and enjoying tasty baked goods. Brilliant, isn't it? So why aren't you doing it? C'mon. Join US. PhotoBlitz.Us is nothing without U!

Pssst! This way for more pics!

Thought for the Day

Conventional wisdom sez: "Avoid space-alien antennas! Re-position your subject so that she does not appear to have odd objects sprouting from the top of her noggin."

On the other hand, the great Kate Hepburn said, "If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun."

We say, "Always go for the fun."

How We Get Our Flippin' Sweet Images

We use cameras.

"What? That's it?" Yeah. Cameras. You want details? Hmmmm, well, okay. But only 'cause it's you.

This is a camera.

An ultra-basic 35mm. We don't use this one, BUT we do use basic digitals and sometimes our cell phone cams -- and we still end up with shots that make people go, "Nice!" (Especially Maestro Tim. His pics ROCK.)

Cool, ain't it?

It's funny, but the first thing people ask if you take pics is "What kind of camera do you have?" They think you're slinging a Canon in one hand and a Nikon in the other. Not the little ones either, but the industrial-strength bodies with those ginormous Observatory-sized lenses. Not us. We just take pics...and look at pics...and study pics. We take more pics. Then more. We walk slowly, look around, observe. Take more pics. Then more. Practice, learn, practice. All with our pocket-sized cams.

Now, don't get us wrong. We would so LOVE to have a couple of DSLR kits! They have a lot of advantages, for sure, and we'd be more than happy to make full use of them. (In fact, if you just won the Lottery or have a pile of cash sitting around and are thinking, "Gee, I'd really like to find something to blow all these Benjamins on," here's a suggestion: Two Nikon D3000 Kits for Tim and Lisa.) But here's the reality: not having that equipment right now isn't going to keep us from doing what we love today. And it shouldn't stop you. Grab your camera. Or your cell phone camera. Or your kid's Spongebob camera. Get out, take pictures. Walk slowly. Look up, look down, take pictures. Observe. Practice. Learn. Never stop.

Follow your Blitz.

Helpful Photo Tip #1

The first step to taking a great picture:

...Take off the flippin' lens cover! Gosh!

We hope this tip has been helpful. Have a great day now.

Are You Ready to Get Blitzed?

Hey. We’re Lisa and Tim. We’ve got cameras and we’re not afraid to use them. Rain, snow, sleet, hail, traffic, small dogs on bedazzled leashes...ain’t nothing stopping us from getting our pics, baby! Yeah, that’s right: we absolutely have no sense whatsoever. And that’s exactly what makes us awesome.

We’re not professional photographers, just a couple of creatives looking for an outlet to escape the tedium of day jobs, bills, laundry, and the complete lack of a good Cuban restaurant in the near vicinity. (That last one’s more my pet peeve than Tim’s, but you get what I’m saying.)

So, the last few months, we’ve been in a full-on camera frenzy, capturing a gazillion images. (Yes, a gazillion. We counted.) Funny thing was, as we started really studying and comparing our stuff, our individual styles started changing. Obviously, we'd corrupted one another’s work. Gasp! What should we do with these mutant photos, we wondered? Duh. Create a blog and post them so we can corrupt others, naturally. “Sharing is caring.” And thus, lo and behold, hence and therefore, we present to you...PhotoBlitz.US.

This project is a way to develop our skills, while motivating other awesome people -- like yourself – to get off the couch and take some pics. Or stay on the couch and take some pics. Frankly, your living room is as good a place to start as anywhere. What are you waiting for? Just get clicking already! C'mon, join US. It’ll be fun.

Photoblitz.US: It's an “our” thing, it’s a "your" thing, it’s an "US" thing.
